I was snowshoeing back to the cabin I was staying in with my father, brother, and some friends when I saw my brother pause and look off into the forest for a minute. I pulled up my camera and captured the moment of rest and observation of the beauty in and around this forest.

While walking along Lake Tahoe, I came across this small inlet. It was called Secret Cove and is the only sanctioned nude beach on the eastern Nevada side of Lake Tahoe. There were 3 people sunbathing on the beach which is just below the bushes at the bottom of the picture. I respected their privacy and moved on. To learn how to take pictures like this, read my educational blogs at www.sharetimsphotos.com.

This was taken up a little known road near the tiny town of Kyburz, California. It gives one of my favorite views down through the valley. This was the first time I’d seen sunset from this point, and it did not disappoint.

First time to the area, and just drove around looking for colors. This mountain stuck out to me as a good focal point for the image, though the real interest lies below it in the orange foliage interspersed with the green pines.

Lichen on tall trees. Walking through the forest surrounding by these towering giants, I was inspired by the sheer amount of lichen clinging to the trees. I especially found the patterns it took on the trees, forming thick lines up the sides.

Visiting her cousin’s farm in the Sierra Nevada Foothills, Fi spent the day cleaning and caring for the chickens and fell in love with this mild-mannered hen. The apparent blood on her hands is actually pomegranate juice, having picked a couple from the tree at lunch. This hen didn’t mind.

On a last minute work trip we got stuck on the runway, I had to take advantage of it and snap a quick photo. I love the endless feel while looking down the runway. So many adventures to be had and the unknown.

This is a pic of the famous Buckhorn Wash in Utah. It’s fading away due to erosion and the forces of nature; it’s sad to see such a amazing inspiring piece of art made hundreds of years ago. I’m really interested in Archeology and Anthropology as well, I just love history. :)

That night before a group of us decided we wanted to get up and watch the sunrise over the mountains. We all brought our bibles to do our devotional when one of us saw this rock overlooking the entire valley. Two of them decided to sit on the rock to talk about the Lord. Being the photographer I am of course I brought my camera to capture this moment of bliss in the fog.

This photo was taken at the end of my 10 week road trip around the USA. The whole trip was filled with incredible views, but the is something very special about Yosemite National Park. The incredible size of the mountain range is hard to judge in a photo, it has to be seen in person be truly appreciated.

by far one of the most amazing views I have ever seen. The Tunnel view in Yosemite National Park does a great job putting g life into perspective and really showing how small we really are. Shot this 2 weeks ago just before it started raining. Its amazing how much water is in the valley right now.

I met this gentleman, who has been photographing Yosemite for the past 30 years, as I was about to leave the park. I could spend hours talking to him about photography, he explained to me how he uses the large format film camera, told me stories about old times and more. The work that he puts into his photos is amazing.

I was driving through Yosemite on my way back home when I saw this. It perfectly symbolized the cycle of life, with the new greenery exploding around the tall, charred trees that once were. There wasn’t anywhere to pull over, so I stopped, grabbed my camera and took a single shot. I’m glad it turned out.

Welcome Fall! It was the first snow of the season in Sierra Nevada, though on the last day of summer (9/22 is fall equinox). I spent my weekend in Bears Land, hiking and backpacking in wilderness.

After a long hike up through rain, snow and 20 degree temperature, I didn’t know what to expect when we reached Upper Cathedral Lake in Yosemite National Park. The clouds seemed to be pulling to the north so I adjusted my position hoping to keep them in frame for sunset. As I waited, a group of hikers came up to admire the view. One of them stepped out on the rocks to take it all in and I was able to capture this reflective moment.

The combined falls are taller than the empire state building. Its pretty impressive in person and totally worth the drive out there from San Francisco. If you ever head out to Yosemite, plan for May. Peak waterfalls and lighter traffic.

We were looking to capture a foggy sunrise view of Half-Dome in Yosemite, but the weather wasn’t cooperating with us. The fog that did show up was low-lying and moving quickly through the trees like a ghostly river meandering through the canyon, swirling around the tallest trees in small eddies. Like too many forests, the valley is infested with borers, which has killed thousands of trees. The splash of golden trees mixed with the green is actually really beautiful, but a sad reminder of how fragile the forest is.

Just after sunrise we found this location in the center of the valley with a beautiful view of Yosemite Falls. Right now all the waterfalls are flowing from all the snow this winter. They should be flowing year round. Five of us friends took a one day road trip to make it for sunrise at Yosemite, slept during the day in our hammocks, and then shot sunset and night photos.

Yosemite Falls was incredibly crowded all day and night, but if you get there around 5am in the spring, you can have the place all to yourself for a bit. It’s a truly magical place.
